The HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC) is a committee of the Human Genome Organisation (HUGO). HGNC is responsible for approving unique symbols and names for human loci, including protein coding genes, ncRNA genes and pseudogenes, to allow unambiguous scientific communication.
