Transgenre : désigne une personne dont le genre ne coïncide pas avec son sexe, c’est-à-dire une personne qui n’est pas forcément intersexuée mais qui a l’intime sentiment d’appartenir à un autre genre que celui que son corps laisserait supposer, et pour qui cet intime sentiment est durable et n’est pas la conséquence uniquement de troubles psychiatriques manifestes passagers ou durables. Est transgenre toute personne qui ne s’identifie pas complètement au rôle social culturellement assigné à son sexe, sans se croire pour autant atteinte d’un « trouble d’identité de genre » ou d’un syndrome, et qui se libère de toute croyance en des rôles sexués naturels et intangibles (Motmans J et all 2009)
